Pepsi NEBL playoffs tip off this weekend as 4 teams battle for the championship

Karim Juan, NEBL Commissioner

As the regular season comes to a close, the Pepsi NEBL playoffs will tip off this coming weekend, with two games. The format of the playoffs will be a best of three series, with San Pedro Tiger Sharks (#1) going up against Cayo Western Ballaz (#4) and Dangriga Dream Ballers (#2) facing Belmopan Bandits (#3) in the semi-finals.  This will be the third time in four years that Cayo Western Ballaz and San Pedro Tiger Sharks face off in the playoffs, with the previous 2 times being in the finals in 2014 and 2015, where San Pedro Tiger Sharks came out victorious.  This is the first season that Belmopan Bandits will not face San Pedro Tiger Sharks in the semi-finals, which is surely a sigh of relief, as they make a push to reach the finals for the first time in franchise history.

In the regular season, San Pedro Tiger Sharks defeated Cayo Western Ballaz in both games, while Dangriga Dream Ballers and Belmopan Bandits split their regular season games, with both wins coming on the road.  Richard Troyer has returned to the US, so his home team will have a huge void to fill going up against the two time champions, while Devin Daly, from Belmopan Bandits had his debut last night in Belize City, registering a solid game for the Bandits.
