In their second meeting of the season and possible a semi-finals playoff matchup between Smart Belize Hurricanes and San Pedro Tiger Sharks. In their previous meeting, Smart Hurricanes lost that game by a margin of 15 points, and is seeking for revenge. Since their first meeting both teams established names for themselves; San Pedro Tiger Sharks known as the number one offensive team scoring 88.2 points per contest. While Smart Belize Hurricanes established that they’re the number one defensive team limiting their opponents to only 69 points prior to this meeting.
After the tip, Smart Belize Hurricanes showed that not because they’re number one defensive team in league they can’t play offense as well. Thus causing them to have an early lead, but that lead would vanish when San Pedro Tiger Sharks decided to go on a little run of their own. Allowing them to finish the first quarter with a 5 point lead with the score knotted up at 25 – 20. At 5:47 of the second quarter San Pedro Tiger Sharks extended their lead to 10, but Smart Hurricanes weren’t going to let the lead be extended out of control. As they went on an 18 – 5 run to finish the first half with a 1 point lead, and with a score of 42 – 41. In beginning of the second half, both teams scored under 16 points making it the lowest scoring output by both teams this season. All of that going on San Pedro Tiger Sharks were still able to maintain a 5 point lead. 5:48 remained in the second half, and with San Pedro Tiger Sharks holding a comfortable lead. All the Tiger Shark fans would say that the game is over and that their team has won, but that wasn’t the case. As the defensive skills of Akeem Watters and Glency Lopez brought their team back from the deficit, eventually tying the score and winning the game with a score of 80 – 68.
Player of the Games goes to Akeem Watters of Smart Belize Hurricanes finishing with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals, and 5 assists. His backcourt partner, Glency Lopez finished also with 20 points and 7 assists. American Import, Tyson Reynold tallied 15 points and 6 rebounds. Top players for San Pedro Tiger Sharks are Martevuius Adams with a game high of 24 points and 14 rebounds. Raul Roches finished with 10 points; the only two players scoring in double digits.
