After falling at home last week against Griga, the Belmopan Bandits continues their search for their first home win of the 2019 season as they host a familiar foe in the San Pedro Tiger Sharks. Also, San Pedro is trying bounce back after losing at home to Belize Hurricanes. Both teams are trying to avoid back-to-back loses and falling below in the standings.
As Bandits started off with a 12 – 0 with their fast pace offense led by Daniel Nolberto who scored sixteen points in the first quarter alone. However, Tiger Sharks were slowly catching up to the rhythm of the game as they were able to gather some momentum at the end of the first quarter. As they were trailing by twelve (31- 19). In the second quarter, that lead disappeared in a blink of an eye due to the 3pt shooting of Douglas Valley. Unfortunately time was able to run out for the ending of the first half, thus sending both teams to their respective locker rooms with Belmopan holding a single point lead at the score settled at 43 – 42. At the 5:50 mark of the second half San Pedro were able to tie up the game at 45, but Bandits were right there to regain the lead. Once again with their 3pt shooting San Pedro were able take the lead once again and finish the game with a 81 – 69 score.
Martevuius Adams led San Pedro Tiger Sharks with 22 points and 8 rebounds. Followed by Douglas Valley with 20 points and 4 rebounds and Francis Arana with 11 points. Belmopan Bandits were carried by Daniel Nolberto with 20 points and 5 rebounds, and Jevonte Hughes with another double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds.
