The National Elite Basketball League (NEBL) will be hosting its third annual All-Star Night on Saturday, March 11 at St. Catherine’s Academy in Belize City. The activities will commence at 8 p.m. with the Three Point Shootout, followed by the Slam Dunk Contest at 8:30 p.m. In the nightcap, we will be having the All Star game, with a new twist. The All Star Game will see the Imports team up with the Belizean Americans to form one team to challenge our local All Stars. Players on the Imports/Belizean American squad are listed below.

The starting five for the local All Star team has been selected via fan votes on Face Book. The starting guards for the local team are Roger Reneau (439 FB likes) from Orange Walk Running Rebels and Edgar Mitchell (337) from Belmopan Bandits. Roger Reneau was the top vote getter on FaceBook. Both guards were selected by the fans and the managers. The starting big men are Akeem Watters (392) from Smart Belize Hurricanes, Darwin “Puppy” Leslie (221) from Cayo Western Ballaz and Quinton Bowen (190) from Dangriga Dream Ballers. Darwin Leslie and Quinton Bowen were also the top two vote getters for both fans and team managers. The remaining seven reserves were selected by the seven team managers and the media. Below is the list of players who were selected to make the 12 man roster. The league would like to congratulate all the players who were selected to participate in the All Star Game.

Rico Black from San Pedro Tiger Sharks, is the coach with the best record (5-2) going into the All Star Weekend, so he will coach the Local Team. Kenrick Fernandez, who is the coach with the second best winning record (4-2) will coach the Imports/Belizean American team. This game surely promises to be entertaining, as our local boys will give it all they’ve got to defend their home turf.
