Leslie scores 17, Defenders send Hurricanes to back-to-back losses

            Last time these team face off against each other it was in the NEBL Finals where the Hurricanes captured their second tittle, which left a terrible taste with Defenders.

            From the tip Hurricanes came out hot with an eight point lead, however Defenders were right behind trailing. It was at 8:51 of the second quarter at Defenders got their first lead of the game, but unfortunately it was short lived as Hurricanes took back the lead. Also that was short lived too as Defenders took the lead once more again, thus finishing the first half with a two point lead with a score of 36 – 34. However in the second half both teams weren’t able to hold the lead for a large significant time. While in the fourth quarter it was all Darwin Leslie, as he scored 13 of his 17 points. Thus giving his team the win with a score of 76 – 72.

            Player of the Game goes to Darwin Leslie leading his team with 17 points. Followed by Nigel Jones with 12 points and 7 rebound and Faron Louriano with 11 points. Hurricanes were led by Devin Daly with 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists. Tyrie Orosco trailed behind with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Also Glencey Lopez with 13 points and 6 assists.

Defenders: To tribute the death of Dwayne Cummings, Shaquille Crawford wore a shirt in memory of Dwayne during warmups.

After the game Nigel Jones had this to say, “It was a big game for us after what happened to us last season losing in finals against them. Everyone stepped up Puppy, Shaquille Crawford, everyone stepped up and played great. I feel like we’re coming around at right time at the season”.
