Last night, at the Belize Elementary School in front of a full house, the Belize City Hurricanes crushed the Verdes team from San Ignacio with a score of 87 – 50! The Hurricanes had an impressive start in the first quarter; leading the charge was their captain Akeem Waters. In just the first quarter, with 15 points, Waters outscored the entire Verdes team players end of the game scores with the exception of Elvis Usher Jr.  By the end of the first quarter, the Hurricanes had dominated the game entirely with outstanding plays from team captain Waters and Glency Lopez.  The game was practically wrapped up and put in the freezer. The final score for the first quarter was an unbelievable 34 – 9! The Verdes squad was stunned – it was a blow from which they would never recover.  In the second and third quarters, the Hurricanes turned down the intensity a little, scoring 17 points each quarter. The only excitement for the Verdes fans came when Shemar White made a spectacular dunk in the second quarter that got the fans on their feet. Then, in the third quarter, American import Julien Travis made a big block momentarily stopping the Hurricane incessant attacks. By the end of the third quarter, the Hurricanes were still up by 68 – 37. By the fourth quarter, the game had already been decided and the Hurricanes gave playing time to their bench. Hats off to Elvis Usher Jr. of the Verdes squad, his leadership showed the caliber of the warrior that he is. When there seemed to be no hope, he was the light in the darkness for the rest of his dispirited teammates to follow! A perfect example for players to pursue, never give up and keep fighting till the end! The game ended in massacre style with a score of 87 – 50.

For the winners, Akeem Waters ended with 25 points, 5 rebounds 3 steals, Glency Lopez with 19 pts, 4 assists, Tyson Reynolds 12 points, 6 rebounds 3 blocks and marucs Lewis 9 points. In a losing effort, Elvis Usher ended with 19 points, Julien Travis with 9 points, 8 rebounds and 1 block and Shemar White with 9 points.
