George Williams shines against Smart Belize Hurricanes

On Friday, March 26, Smart Belize Hurricanes hosted their more than despised rivals, San Pedro Tiger Sharks, at the Saint Catherine’s Academy auditorium. Both teams are coming into this game losing their previous one and now looking to start a new streak as the season is coming to an end.

San Pedro Tiger Sharks were practically doing everything right on both ends of the court; leaving Smart Hurricanes scoreless midway through out the first quarter. Eventually, Smart Hurricanes were able to find their offensive game and tie up the game with a score of 20. It was a different story in the second, when San Pedro Tiger Sharks went on a scoring rampage and Smart Hurricanes couldn’t get nothing falling for them. At end of the first half, San Pedro Tiger Sharks had a dominating lead of 16 at the score of 48 – 32.  It was practically the same in the second as San Pedro maintained their lead. Smart Hurricanes the game back within 5 point in final minutes of the game, but unfortunately they lose their composure and eventually lost the game with a score of 80 – 71.

Player of the game goes to George Williams with 27 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Other contributors for San Pedro Tiger Sharks were Raul Roaches finishing with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Also, big man, Kurt Burgess with 9 points and 7 rebounds and Douglas Valley with 9 points. Top players for Smart Belize Hurricanes were Akeem Watters and Leroy Louriano, both with 16 points and 3 rebounds. Also, Macario Augustine tallied a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds. Finally, Brian White finished off with 14 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals.
