On Friday night, February 10 Smart Belize Hurricanes hosted their bitter rival from the south, Dangriga Dream Ballers formerly known as Darngriga Dream Ballers at the SCA auditorium. As the first quarter went underway, the road team had a lead over their rivals in the early portion of the game. That was cut short when the home team made a scoring run and ran away with the lead; ending the quarter at 22 – 13. In the second quarter, the lead was cut into a single possession game but wasn’t enough for take over the game; ending the first half at 32 – 28. In the second half, Smart Belize Hurricanes dominated with their scoring and had a 14 point lead going in the fourth. The lead was shortly diminished, as the road team crept up from behind and brought the game to a single possession game at 61 – 60. With seconds remaining in the ball game, Dangriga Dream Ballers went for the win with a 3 point shot but didn’t convert. As a result, Smart Belize Hurricanes ran away with a narrow victory at home and second of the season with a score of 62 – 60.
